Netflix has proudly boasted of hitting 1 million subscribers for their streaming service in the UK and Ireland. The figure is notable as the service launched in the nations just seven months ago. Given the amount of advertising they pounded out I'm not surprised, however plenty of people I know with it are simply disappointed and LoveFilm are supposed to offer the better service too.

Only 1 mill? Still sounds to me like they haven't made that much of a splash. I'd still say (from experience) avoid them like the plague.

I wonder how many of those "users" are active. I like many people signed up for a free account but have not continued a subscription. I found the choice of films poor when compared to Amazon's Love Film which I get free with my disc based subscription (I maintain the disc based one anyway to get HD blu ray discs)

Streaming services are fine when you have a fast connection and no one else using it at the same time, but not when you have someone online gaming, in the other room, complaining about the stuttering on their game.
