Microsoft unveils new corporate logo

25 years after introducing their first corporate logo, Microsoft has just unveiled an update, their first ever.
The logo looks similar to its predecessor, including the multicolored window pane, but with a more modern look and feel (and font type).
Microsoft's Jeff Hansen adds that the new corporate logo will "signal the heritage but also signal the future -- a newness and freshness."

If not for the fact that older computers couldn't display those specific colors, I'd say it looks older than the old logo. If this signals a focus on efficiency then I'd say it is a good thing...if it signals a focus on simplicity, it is a bad thing, and since it probably signals nothing at all, it is unimportant except to those who will be forced to buy new signs.

OpenOffice has been dead now for almost 18 months. Try [edit]LibreOffice (my dyslexic ass got it backwards)... most of the original folks involved with Open went on to make Libre. It may not be as 'flashy/pretty', but I find it to be stable as hell & very capable to communicate to virtually ANY 'office' style software being put out there.
My basis has been tested on a private school for over 2 separate semesters (last spring & now this fall) & both are reporting much better results over the Open responses of earlier semesters.
Hope that helps, for FREE solutions anyway.

Hm...I was unaware that OpenOffice hasn't been updated in 18 months...it still works just fine for me so I guess that's why...lol! I will look into Libre though...thanks for the info! :)

Logo wasn't the point the fact that it was so unoriginal and bland was all that was addressed. Never was the product knocked but someone preferred OpenOffice. I tried both OpenOffice and Libre and was totally unimpressed. I only wished MS was people friendly with their pricing. They give away and sell their products cheaply to groups and some other companies but wants the rest of us to pay for those give away's and other cheap sells.

I'm speaking future & past tense... I'm being sarcastic... It's all to be taken metaphorically or in LONG TERMS, with regards to older versions of Windows. Meaning, consumers would get one good copy of the OS followed by a lousy one only to be followed 2.5 years later with another bad one. Thus continuing this idiotic cycle since the mid 90s. And the "G" you're referring to is a NINE... (some people) - That's that future tense thing I was talking about.
Quit being so literal. You're a big boy now, you don't need to have everything spelled out for you.

I was a computer troubleshooter for several years working for the major computer makers. I handled both hardware and software issues. This included all the current OS's that were available. Until Apple got it and started changing things, software was a nightmare for the people who had problems. Explaining things to the average Apple user was impossible. Sure MS and Windows had normal problems but they were easily solved. Each new MS OS had good improvements such that going back or switching was a ridiculous idea. Because so many individuals thank they have a case against MS, they fail to realize that much of the problem is flack and hack and not the products themselves at MS. Yes I don't like MS policies but I can manage their products quite well.

And for someone claiming to have been in the tech field you still either refuse to "hear" me or are just in a desperate need of wanting some kind of fight.
At no time did I say or incline that YOU had any problem navigating the minefield called Windows & its many alliterations. Nor did I opine that the software giant tried to cripple it's software by introducing religion or witchcraft as apposed to new technology to their code (see, that's sarcasm).
What I am saying is you have no sense of humor, no sense of irony & are as dry as a popcorn fart. I would probably venture to say your profession is somewhere in the engineering field & an extremely specialized one at that.
My beef isn't with you, so quit making it so. Microsoft has been known as of recent to remove some of its functionality due to "dated technology". I would venture some of it is being removed as a style of network circumvention of today's internet/intranet hackers as well, but that is an educated theory.
Otherwise, M$ should probably stop changing their logo as often a teenage drama queen changes her mind & take a page from CrApple. (Choose a deity) knows they really haven't changed theirs in eons.

No I am saying that the Apple people had to get closer to the windows system for their average or bellow average user to negotiate the the needed repairs to the software.
I am sure that for the over average Apple user the loyalty caused them to knock the Windows environment. They were really wanting to knock the Bill Gates crew which is understandable. But hackers are or were out there in droves wanting to take Windows down. They never hurt MS they were harming (destroying) the little folks who needed help only.
