It's finally official: The LG Optimus G beast is here

article published on 28 August, 2012

After a week of rumors and half-leaks, LG has officially unveiled the Optimus G, their new flagship Android smartphone. When I had a 3.5" screen I thought that was perfect. I now have a 4.3" screen and believe that it is better for me although it is almost too big. I might be able to manage with 4.7" although I would prefer something closer to 4".

I have held a Galaxy Note and that thing is just way too big. I couldn't imagine using it as a phone and carrying it everywhere.

"For the whiners about screen size" you are missing the point here... this is the market now, you VOTE with your wallet! smaller phone+smaller battery+smaller processor=mid-range Phone.

Im kind of disappointed about quad S4, not that it inst a great processor, but was expecting the bar to be raised till the quad s4Pro.

I'm not whining, nor am I missing the point; I have a 3.7" screen on my (now dated) HTC, and there is room for improvement. Inevitably phones have moved towards larger screens - that's fine. However, there is a massive difference between a roughly 4" screen and a 4.7" screen.

Also, what are you doing with your phone that you are moaning about LG's choice of quad-core processor? Jesus.

My S2 dual core, works as good as my Nexus 7 Quad.
is about to do tasks with less effort/less power consumption, and just get to the point where we will focus more in other improvements. I think s4Pro is the line of raw power, then focus will go to battery and gpu. my2cents

There is a bunch of small screen option out right now HTC one S(4'3) HTC One V(3'7) are great if not the best option.

Indeed, that was my point really. Have you OC'd your Nexus 7 to 2Ghz yet? Haha.

If I was in the market for a new phone right now, it would probably be an HTC One S - hopefully the xiaomi m2 will get released in the US/Europe, though.
