Judge rules Oracle must pay Google's trial costs

article published on 4 September, 2012

A judge has ruled that Oracle must pay $1 million to Google to reimburse them for trial costs. The expensive trial, in which Oracle accused Google of patent violations related to Java in the Android mobile operating system, ended up with Google being the victor. U.S. District Judge William Alsup approved Google's request to have costs recovered because they were the winning party. ... [ read the full article ]

Well I feel bad for Oracle taking into account that part of their technology was manipulated into something else that made google very rich. reminds me of Apple and microsoft business tatics all over the world. I wonder if this is what you call innovation?

I don't pity Oracle a bit. They've tried to make Linux distros commercial (what was once free charge big money), crush all attempts at open source software - including those by individuals who were in previously bought out companies (Open Office comes to mind).

These guys are a predatory, no prisoners left behind kind of monopoly that would even run Microsoft out of town if they could. I would hate to work for these guys unless I was an ill tempered badger on a ten year hangover.

I can't agree more with what you say. Additionally orphical is also doing their best to stifle innovation. Why say that? Orphical bought up MySql and if you've been paying attention they are now slowly going about making it more and more restrictive and will make it a pain for developers to use. Many of my friends really liked MySql before it was bought by orphical, and with the latest changes are looking to move away from it.

I am not surprised at Oracle's greed. They are an old dinosaur monopoly charging way too much for their software and services.
