I don't know if you even have Burning ROM. Nero comes in various flavors and I think you may have Express only, as indicated by the program version. Normally, if you were using the full Nero 6 program package, you would be using NeroVision Express 2. If that was the case then your Express version number would be something like 2.1.2.16, and not the number you are showing. Where did you get your Nero from?
It really does not look like the burn process even came close to starting...no disc info, no file sorting, no DAO, no error messages.
This log file is not actually an error message, however it is where error messages can be found. In your case there aren't any. What your log does not show kinda tells the story though.
Your transfer mode will switch from DMA to PIO after a certain number of read errors with that device so if it's your hard drive that switched then there might be a problem there, or at any rate this could indicate that your Nero installation may be corrupted and missing files, like the driver. You may want to consider removing and re-installing Nero.

OK. I've encoded the avi files using Cucusoft avi to dvd converter, then ran the files through ifoedit. I then successfully burnt them to disc using Nero Burning Rom. So it looks like the problem is with NeroVision Express. Doing it this way takes 4-8 hours encoding through Cucusoft, though, which is why I prefer NeroVision Express. Any idea as to why it would start doing this? I'm using Nero 6 Ultra, with all the recent updates installed - well, apart from InCD, which I took off yesterday. My Nero Vision Express is NeroVision Express 2 version 2.1.2.16.

Thanks, Veblin. After digging around, I managed to find the folder. Trying to encode and burn using Vision Express 2, which should take approx. 2 hours. Will post the logs here when it's done, or shows up an error.
Incidentally, I don't know why it was showing a very old driver, as the one in the Nero folder was from 2002-3 or so, not 1997!! Could it have something to do with my old Nero 5 installation? I'm sure I removed it when installing Nero 6.

I'm not sure just replacing that driver is going to help with your NeroVision. We will see.
If it doesn't work then I would think that the best thing to do would be to completely uninstall Nero.
Make sure you have your serial#.
Reboot the computer.
Download and run the all the Nero Clean Tools from this page.

When you have run all the Clean Tools, then Reboot again and reinstall Nero.
Install package 1,2 and 4.

You probably already have downloaded them, but you might want to download package 2 again because that is the one with NeroVision Express 2.
See what happens.

Well, this is most odd. Having changed the driver and reinstalled NeroVision Express 2, everything seems to be ok again. NeroVision Express 2 is working properly, converting and burning without error. Is it possible one of my uninstalls removed the driver for Nero?
1 hour and 29 minutes to convert and burn my avi files to DVD. So much better than the 4-8 hours converting and burning it takes when NeroVision Express 2 isn't working.
Nope, it's gone again. It happens when I try to burn a particular film. Could it be corrupt avi files?
Just noticed this in the log file:

So, even though I've replaced the driver, it's still going back to a driver from god only knows where. The correct driver is in the Nero folder.

Hi IMyself,
What version of NeroVision do you have? The Log file fails to indicate this. You should make sure you have the latest NeroVision Express 2.1.2.16, if not, please upgrade this first to see if it resolves your issue.
Also, it looks like you have or had the Sonic RecordNow software installed on your system. IF you still have it installed, try uninstalling it. And then look for the below driver and rename it with a .bac extenions. This is known to cause intermitant probelms with Nero and other recording programs.
'PXHELP20.SYS'
Rename to: PXHELP20.BAC
If you still have problems, please attach the full NeroVision Log file, as this is not the complete file. IT fails to show any of the conversions or even the start of the burn process. At the end of the write attempt, it will ask you if you wish to save the NeroVision Log file, save this and send append to your posting.

You are not able to locate it by doing a search for the file name?
I believe they store the driver in your C:\Windows\System32 folder
It's been a while since I had to deal with that driver, but that is the logical place for it to be located.

Searched all files and folders for it, just looked in the folder you suggested. It's not there.
On a more positive note, NeroVision Express is burning properly again. I think it could have been a corrupt avi file causing the problem, as it did it on one certain file.

Just talked with one of our Tech's, and he reminded me the problem was actually with an executable file that was left behind that worked with the .SYS file.
Look for the file: tfswctrl.exe
Delete this from your system and you'll not need to work about the 'PXHELP20.SYS' driver.

Thanks for that, Craig. I don't appear to have that exe file, either. NeroVision Express appears to be ok now. Will see if it starts acting up again, though.
