Hi there nosty10s, Welcome to our forum -

Check your PC's Playcontrol - look at the balance control -

Can't think of anything that DVD Shrink could have done, it's not set up like that -

I would re-rip it again (Do it to an RW so you don't waste a disc.).

Are you using the latest DVD Shrink ? Version 3.17 ?

Let's make sure our basics are in order -

First, let's make sure we have a good ASPI layer -

Start here -
http://cd-rw.org/articles/archive/aspisetup.cfm

Next go here and download the check ASPI download to ,make sure you're set to go -
http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.jsp?language=English+US&filekey=aspichk.exe&sess=no

Now, let's check your burner's firmware.

Go here to look up your burner's firmware -

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php

Check you firmware here - (It's called "My Firmware tool" at the bottom of the page)

http://flashman.rpc-1.com/

Then we'll try it again and see how we'll do :-)

i dont think the media is causing this problem, but it would be a good idea to switch to better media before you encounter more problems.

The reason Im asking is because Im only getting sound out of one channel on my home stereo, but I get sound out of both speakers on the computer?
Those two post say opposite things and are one reason you should not make multiple threads. Make up your mind what your problem is and you might get some help with the actual problem.

Okay now. One of my questions has been answered. Does it play on your computer-Yes Now, do the originals play fine on your stand alone DVD player? If not have you tried cleaner the laser lens? Tried new wire for the left channel? I am focusing on the stand alone player.

I guess I must have flunked mind reading. I think you are finally getting to the point where you are trying to tell me that you have your stereo system connected to your computer. Now why couldn't I figure that out from what you had previously posted? Did I guess right?

I would suspect a bad audio cable or connectors between the computer and stereo. Just a guess.

Who wants to bet on this one.

1 Are we talking about a stand alone DVD player and a stereo?

2 Are we talking about a computer DVD player and a stereo?

Place your bets.

nosty10s

I suspect you might have a problem with your laser's alignment.

It would explain your problem.

I do have another question -

What went on between July 13th and now.

Was this problem cured for those 5 1/2 weeks and just came back or has it been going on all this time ?

LOL. Pete, we are talking about "Barney" DVD's. Not LOTR. I'm sure it has only been a nagging problem. Something that begs to be fixed for peace of mind.

The permutations are increasing in regards to the sound problem.

A few more hardware questions have been answered. I have a few more tho.

Is the sound okay when it plays through the TV? Is the TV a stereo model? Is it hooked up to a stereo amp? If so, how? Is the DVD player hooked up to the TV first and then the Stereo amp? By coax cable? Or RCA Cables?

If you have a stereo capable TV and are using coax then you should get sound (stereo) put of both speakers. If you are piping the sound from the TV (not the DVD player) to a stereo amp and only using the right channel (default I think) then you are only going to get mono.

Everyone feel free to jump on me about this. Been a long time since I engaged in hooking up TV's to sound equipment.

nosty10s,

Please refresh my memory, When you play the copy in your PC does it play out of both speakers ?

Have you tried to play it in another PC to see if both speakers are working there when it is played ?

Thanks there Good Guy -

Cheers,

OK so if I'm reading all of this right, both the back-up and the original play correctly in your PC.

That means that the audio is correct on the disc, but computer drives can play about anything.

The DVD player can't pick out the left channel audio off the burned disc, yet works correctly with the original.

Sounds like a case of poor media:

Get some Ritek G-04 and see what happens. Hehehe.

Get Ritek G-04 or Verbatim. The top of the disc is the "label" side, the bottom is the side with the recording surface. At least that's what I always considered the top and bottom.

I get mine here most of the time:
