Hello Everyone!

A few weeks ago the time came to move back home from my first year at university. When unpacking I noticed I was missing a few full PS2 games, a few cases (but I have the discs) and a discs (but have the cases). I'm also missing bout 8-10 films, but this isn't such a big deal as anticipating losing some - as people borrow things I took all copies to uni, leaving the originals at home on a shelf, a very wise decision in hindsight.

The easiest to solve were the missing cases, I found sites that have them on and printed new ones off, although I wasn't amused about it. Now onto the missing games (where I did print some cases but still missing the discs) and the missing discs....

Some of the games I've managed to borrow from friends and copy, so I once again have them (but not the originals). I'm hoping some of my DVDs people will find they have and tell me, but i think some will have gotten broken, and some just misplaced never to be found again. So anyway some I borrowed from friends, and they worked fine, these were games like Vice city and Super Bust a Move. But some games I had were rarer, that i'd bought on eBay, and none of my friends have them so I decided to download them (I don't see any problem ethically or legally - i've paid the licence to use them, but unfortunately was too dumb to back them up when I had them, but as far as I can tell I still have the right to a backup copy - I still own the game and box after all!). The copies play by the way because before I left I paid to have a Messiah 2 installed so I could take copies of some PS1 games with me, leaving the originals at home in case my sister wanted to play them.

So anyway i've managed to find some of the games im missing, and download them, such as Bomberman Kart, unfortunately when burning these games, they don't appear to work, 2 of them so far haven't worked, compared to one that has.

What happens is I get a screen, saying the disc is a playstaion 2 disc, press square to continue or circle to go back (the colour of the disc depends on whether the game is a CD or a DVD) I have a Pioneer A-106 Burner, bought in order to backup my movies to take to university in the first place, a good idea if only i'd thought to do the same with my games!, pictures can be seen in the link below (i've resized these to 800x600, the last one for Medal of Honor to 640x480)

On the photos you can see the videos I have to sort out (i have a lot of the films now on DVD so they will probably be thrown away, but they are there to sort out, as well as the pink machine which is my computer to act as a server in my house next year, sharing the broadband, and other bits and pieces, as well you can see the only 2 xbox game i've got out - Splinter Cell and halo, i'm dreading looking to see if any of my XBox games are missing - i haven't modified it so I can't just copy the games and have them back, I will need a Modchip and so on), you can also see on the left of the PC another stack of games, they are all over the place until my stuff gets unpacked properly, which is when I throw away some of the videos creating space for games to go in.

linky linky for the photos: http://www.batwick.com/linky.htm

The third photo is the only problem i've had doing direct backups of my friends games to replace my missing ones, Medal of Honor (Allied Assault or whatever the Playstation title is) just goes to a loading screen and does nothing else.

If anyone can help with either of these problems I would be extremely grateful, you can see in front of the TV the stack of coasters I have already amassed.

Many Thanks,
Anthony

Some additional information, not sure if it's relevant:

My DVD Burner is a Pioneer A-106D with RPC-1 firmware, and my playstation one of the earlier versions, I got it a few days after release.

Hi BatWick

To back up PS2 games try using DVD Decryptor (Free software). Burn at a speed no quicker than 2X.

Use the right DVD- r media (Ritek is highly recommended).

Not all PS2 Games are DVD's. Some are Still CD's.

Clone CD or Alchol 120% are both useful.

You also need a modified PS2. Messiah 2 chip or something similar.

Soem use swap disks but the chips are the best.

Good luck

Hey, just an add to hm1's post. When you're copying a game, copy the image to your hard drive before burning it to blank media. This really lowers chances of error.

PS2 V7
Matrix Infinity Chip
Plextor PX-708UF External DVD Re/Writable Combo Drive
LG DVD-ROM DRD8160B Internal Drive
Fujifilm DVD-R
Nero Burning ROM 6.5 w/ NeroVision Express
