I used the svcd to vcd guide on the forum but i am still unable to get the audio source in TMPGEnc when converting the mpeg file. When i browse for the mpg file that i extracted from alcohol 120%, the audio file should automatically load but it doesnt.

Can anyone help please???

Thats strange, have you tried demuxing the audio track and loading it seperately? I'm not a big fan of that method but if it helps....

I had a similar problem. The reason is that the .mpg in a SVCD is a MPEG-2 and TMPGEnc only accepts MPEG-1 as input (strange, but it's so. It makes MPEG-2 files, but loads only MPEG-1 files!).
I used Womble MPEG-VCR (www.womble.com) but, strangely, the output does seem not have 29.97 fps and the subtitles are out-of-sync. If the problem is just converting, you're fine with it.

Actually what happens when the MPEG-2 plugin isnt present, it doesnt load the video stream, here the problem is the audio stream! So if its reading the video then it must be OK, so i believe demuxing the audio from the source file will help!

Hey there man if u have trouble with converting SVCD to VCD just simply use VCD gear and extract the mpeg2 to ur hdd and use tmpge to convert it and if that dosent work use VCD gear again and extract the mpg2 file as a dat file this solved my problem as when i extracted the dat file i was able to run it through tmpge plus and convert to any other format i wanted.

The guide he read he already showed how to properly extract the MPEG-2 file :-)

Ok sorry bout that, since u know how to extract the mpg2 then i see u have trouble with the audio but i've never had this problem. But i still recommend that u use VCD gear it should extract every stream from the source

And another thing the guide here to convert SVCD to VCD has way to many steps or procedures and requires programs which u really dont need except for tmpge. Not tryin to sound like a know it-all but i've been workin with svcds for a while and the steps i provided really do the simple trick, as for demuxing audio and such and using alcohol for mounting a image i really dont see how necessary that is but then again everyone has there own way of doing things, and i also know convering a SVCD can be a real pain. Just thought i'd try and help out here.

Ok, first of all I wrote that guide and Ive had years of SVCD experience behind me. The reason the image is mounted with Alcohol is because in the history of the VCD/SVCD forum, VCDEasy has been the better choice for people to extract a TURE MPEG file which is needed for TMPGEnc! There were numberous complaints about an older version of the guide that used VCD Gear! So that lead to the rewrite and since VCDEasy required at this time that the image be mounted i chose to use Alcohol with the guide as it's generally a better option for mounting images! There have been advancements made since the guide was written and it needs to be updated. The only rthing wrong with the guide is that TMPGEnc, as in the free encoder, was never packed with it. Only TMPGEnc Plus had it packed so there is a thread on the forum that shows where to download the .m2v plugin. Ohter than that the SVCD to VCD guide is ok!

hi
i'm having problem with converting files, basicly i get out-of-sync and it's sux.
i have question:
If i convert PAL SVCD quality into PAL VCD quality, will that get out-of-sync.
OR
convert NTSC SVCD quality into PAL VCD quality will that get out-of-sync.
which way is safer for me, i need to know that.

vadimo is cool and good for you!
