I believe from what I read that you can't burn copy protected games with a "trial" version of Alcohol 120%.

I just want confirmation if this is true or not.

thanks

If i understand correctly, with the trial, you CAN burn games (provided you have the appropriate hardware etc). The only limitations i see are a timebomb and nagscreen.

Yes you can do BF Vietnam I don't like using the original disk if I can help it (helps keep the ware and tear on the original disk to a minimum).

I was just wondering because in Shoey's above post he says this "Down near the bottom where it says datatype, choose Safedisc 2 and burn RAO DAO at max.

the (RAO DAO) part I don't see in my version. I have (RAW DAO). So I'm just wondering if it is just an sp or I'm missing that from my version alcohol 120% that I got from here.

You should be able to make a back up of your original disk with the plextor 708A. I used my Lite-On 16X DVD-Drive XJ-HD166S and my NEC 2500A DVD.

The Plextor PX-708A does protections very nicely. I just backed up Painkiller (SafeDisc 3.2) with mine although I used BlindWrite5 instead of A120. The copy plays from all my drives (burners included) and needs no emulation.

When you choose The SafeDisc 2/3 datatype it should give you the correct settings and RAW/DAO is the one you want :)

Well the problem I get is at about 14.6% way through burning the image from my hd to cdr media it stops and I get this message

"Something is wrong with the recording procedure. Please check the log file and report any errors to technical support"

And it basically ends my burning

I will drop the o/c on my computer and try it again, but I believe it did the same thing when I wasn't o/c it.

Could it be the type of media I'm trying to burn it on to? I'm using a Memorax 52 x, cd -R. Should I get some kind of other media?

It may help to burn slower. I always burn my backups at 4X regardless of what protection it uses.

Is there a way I could slow down the burning process with Alcohol 120 or should I try a different media?

o.k. I've managed to burn the image onto my cd -r. But when I insert the cd to try and play to see if it worked the far cry picture pops up and it seems like my plextor seems to be searching for something and can't find it. So basically I'm stuck with the far cry image on my screen. Any idea what the problem could be or I can do to get it going?

I know the image on my hd is good because I can play the game without the cd inside my plextor.

I tried a different media, with no luck. The copyright picture of far cry appears when I try to play it and then it just doesn't do anything from there.

Could it just be a glitchy kinda thing with your burner? Does anything happen if you pop the disc in a different machine?

A crack is a little proggy that disables any time restrictions or limitations on software, hence the word "crack".

But they are illegal, so any talk of things like that is not allowed in this forum.

Just a heads up, mate.

P.s. I hope you get that backup working.
