I am using Pioneer DVD burner A05 and tried to play an Indian movie called - Main Hoon Na - just released last week, on my computer and my computer refused to recongnized the movie. This is the original disc. I tried it in another computer with Pioneer A04 burner - no luck. Same is the case with the new SONY DRU-700A and BenQ models. This movie is released by EROS Entertainment. The OS on the computer is WIN2000 Pro with the latest SP3. This is the only movie that is not reconginzed by the DVD burners. Since then I have played Bowling for Columbine and others and they play fine. Why is this? Are they using a new kind of DVD blanks? What is on this DVD that no burner is able to recongined? Any ideas? Any Thoughts?

perhaps it's a region code issue. You may want to try a trial version of AnyDVD or DVD Region Free.

No it is not REgion Code problem. This DVD is for USA market and is in NTSC. The problem is that the DVD burner doesnot recongnize the the movie. If you click on the CD Rom icon, it tells you that there is no media in the drive. Any other thoughts?

Hmmm ... does it play in standalone players? And you did say other dvd's will play on your pc, right?

Yes, it plays in stand alone players OK. It is only on the computer that it is not recongnized. And i tried it on three different computers.

I just had the same problem with my older DVD-ROM with burnt DVD's.
I went to the manufacturers site and downloaded the latest firmware and now it works like a charm.

Hey I have this problem with the Main Hoon Na DVD disc 1. I have tried 2 different Disc 1 from friends. But my player does not seem to recognize Disc 1. There is no problem with Disc 2. I have sent an email to Erosentertainment about this ....and I am waiting for their reply.

Let me know if anyone has a solution for this.

I forgot to add that I have a Panasonic SA HT-80 Receiver that has 5 Disc DVD/CD changer. I have not had a problem with any of the Hindi/Indian/US DVD's before. Donno what the problem is with this Disc 1?

I also just received the Main Hoon Na DVD. Disc 1 does not play and Disc 2 plays fine. Disc 1 does not open on my computer but Disc 2 plays fine.

koustubh...did they replace your dvd? We bought ours from indiaplaza.com

I would try using the trial version of AnyDVD to see if it's possibly a format issue. Doubtful, but worth a try :)

The problem is that the disc is not recongnized by the DVD Pioneer A05,Sony & BenQ burners so there is nothing you can do. If you click on CD ROM icon in My Computer, it says - Please Insert Disc. Is it the way this DVD is created or is this new copy guard?

Not to knock your movie, but don't you think if there was a new copy guard they would use it on "blockbuster" Hollywood films? So I doubt it.

Eros Entertainment now has DVDs in -R format. God only know why they are using that because older DVD players cannot read that format. So you need a dvd player that can read -R format and then you will not have any problem. We just purchased a new dvd player that can read all formats and now we have no problem.

Also, Your computers dvd should be able to read -R.
Disc 1 of main hoon na is -R format and Disc 2 is +R. That is why the computer and Dvd players can read that. -R is fairly new so most of the dvd players dont have that. So if you want to purchase a new dvd player make sure it says it can read -R, +R.

Thanks nikki9 for your suggestions. Now even I have started thinking of buying an additional DVD player. I was thinking of buying a DVD/VCR combo. Any ideas what is the best deal out there in the market?

Also what new DVD player did you buy if you don't mind me asking that?

BTW...first I bought the DVD from Erosentertainment.com since they are the ones who created the DVD. They have told me that I could return this DVD and then they would send me a new one. But I am sure the new one will also have the same problem. So I decided on buying a new player.

Thanks,
- warko01
