770 mb on cd?

I just turned 15 and english is my third language and I just started to try out cd burning so I may have had some trouble to get everything in the guides, I just made my mpg to SVCD using VCDgear, I first had to make mpeg -> mpeg, then mpeg -> cue/bin (cd image)
The bin file turned to be 770 mb, I didn't notice it at that point, I burned it on a TDK CD-R80 700 MB disc. I watched it and it worked just fine, how can this be possible when the file was 70 mb too big? (burned with nero)
