Apple to license iOS 6 clock from SBB

article published on 12 October, 2012

Apple has agreed to license the iconic clock created by the Swiss national railway (SBB). Last month, Apple's latest iOS operating system finally gave iFans a native clock app, and most new users found the app to be "beautiful" or "gorgeous." However, fans were not the only ones to notice the style of the new app, and the SBB accused the company of stealing the design. Apple's design ... [ read the full article ]

OK so let me get this straiht. Apple once again stole something without permission and is agreeing to pay for the rights to use it only after the fact that they stole it? Man they are taking this "It is better to ask forgiveness than permission" a little too far.

Forgive me if I misinterpreted this but it appears that the clock is already being used in iOS and is just now being agreed upon the licensing terms.

It's always better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. or as my drill sergeants used to say, "If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying! If you got caught, you weren't trying hard enough!"

Besides, it's free advertising for the SBB & wasn't it stated that Apple's supposed losing their ass with iOS6 anyway? Last I heard it was to the tune of $60 billion, but like the markup on jewellery, I think the 'real' money would be more to the tune $6 billion. Still something to definitely cry about to be sure.

I'm still amazed Apple didn't sue SBB for copying their clock...they would have won in a US court.
