article published on 13 October, 2012

Like the family gathering around the hearth at the holidays, I am reminded of the tale I once wrote here in the forums about polishing a turd.

Sticking the best, shiniest wrapping paper & best bow does not mean it's going to be the best gift out of the bunch. Once again, a product has been produced with what the manufacturer wants & not what the consumer may have had in mind or directly called for.

M$ seems to forget they're in the SERVICE industry, not the manufacturing industry.

They will surely need a huge pile of money. It sounds like another Vista where they had trouble giving it away. Users would format their Vista disks and install XP. Now we are going to have to suffer with M$ complaining about pirates stealing W8 so that their sales will be poor.

Who knows, maybe they'll use the excuse (& bloated monetary figure) as a loss on their taxes at the end of the year.

What a waste.

I heard somewhere (probably here) MS believes touchscreens are the future of computing and wants to force us into using them now.

Is the mouse that bad?

I think I will be sticking with Win7 for the foreseeable future.
