According to AllThingsD, Apple will unveil the oft-rumored iPad Mini on October 23rd.
The device will feature a 7.85-inch display, making it a direct rival to the Amazon Kindle Fire HD and the Google Nexus 7. There have been plenty of rumors about the device, mainly about what features it is missing compared to its larger brother.

The reason for this move was simple the retina display all though needed when made with a larger display really isn't needed on a smaller pad it would also cause people to get sick because the screen would cause motion sickness
Still $100 more, their faithful didn't even get the same processor as the i5 or the Retina display. And the bargain is...?
They'll probably still sell a bunch of the damned things to the unwitting & then the rest of us will again decree "told you so", when the cries of "we didn't get this/that" start to arise again. Followed by some diuretic Apple excuse or another for how it's basically the consumer's fault for having bought the POS in the first place (time & again).
