Microsoft has released their first Windows 8 commercial today, two weeks before the company prepares its commercial launch.
The new operating system will hit shelves on October 26th, and the company's marketing campaign is said to be above $1 billion, many times the figure spent on Windows 7.

A very informative advert. Its nearly as informative as the Surface advertisement.
If thats all it takes to persuade people to take up this rubbish, then, God help us all!
That sure wouldn't entice me to get it on any of the desktops I own. Its clearly for tablets or if your pc has a touchscreen. I still don't like touchscreens but maybe I'm just old fashioned.

They have their place, but I must agree, I prefer typing on a "real" keyboard. I really do miss the old days of the metal case pc keyboard those had the best feel as far as I am concerned, but I digress.
MS better get their shit together and start concentrating on ads for the MORE ABUNDANT "DESKTOP" user rather than the touchscreen user. I don't have nor do I ever plan on owning a touchscreen............unless they develop the technology to make the laptop float right in front of me.
BTW, all those ragging about the "Metro" should PIPE DOWN. I'm using 8 now for testing and it's pretty cool. The "Metro" that so many think is the whole OS and bulk of the style behind what we end users are interacting with is nothing more than a redesigned START menu. Still windows. START menu tasks are actually easier with the new style.
MS is also adamantly claiming that "whatever works on 7 will work on 8"
