a lot of people think that if you have a ps3 on 4.XX you can downgrade... simply not true... all the ps3 units shipped to this day apart for the new line of slims(4k models 4.xx) has been shipped w/o even hitting the 4.00 of firmwares... this does not mean they cant be downgraded... at lowest firm of the ps3 you can hack the 3.55... so if a unit comes with 3.56 as its lowest it cant be downgraded... it will simply refuse to downgrade... dates are also important to this factor if your unit was made before the release of 3.55 or higher you can downgrade it... unit numbers also serve a good deal of finding out if you have a unit that can be downgraded... considering you have a fat ps3 you can downgrade it
since you have a fat ps3 now we need to determine the model of it and what kind of chip it has(NAND/NOR) to see what flasher you need... if you have a CECHAxx to CECHGxx model these units come with NAND chips to downgrade it.... you need plenty of solder and either E3 flasher or progskeet.... now if you have CECHHxx to CECHQxx model you have a NOR chip and its the most easy to do with the E3 flasher since it comes with a clip on solution...
either of the flashers are expensive E3 can go as high as 120 plus shipping and progskeet can go as high as 100 plus shipping both prices varies depending on where you live... the price alone can drive people away from this whole ordeal.... if you made it up to this point it all depends on you and the price lol...

well they were the first clones of the original jailbreak device the device just puts the ps3 into a state that the unit will run anything you like... later on the CFW solved the problems with all the clones... the payload of the dongles were built into a CFW that can run pretty much anything you like w/o the dongle being plugged into the ps3... what you need to make sure if the dongle you have it not based on PIC chip... those cant be upgraded..... if it comes with ATMEL chip it can be upgraded to do a downgrade service to the ps3...
