AT&T sold a lot more iPhone 5s than Verizon

article published on 24 October, 2012

Following both company's earnings reports, it has become clear that AT&T has sold a lot more iPhone 5 than rival Verizon has, so far. Interesting that the vast majority of iPhone customers remain on AT&T.

I know at the Verizon stores the sales reps are trained to push other phones over iPhones due to the massive subsidy the carrier has to pay to Apple. They make more money selling rival handsets. Wonder if the AT&T stores do the same?

AT&T is exactly the same. Staff is trained to sell anything Android. Sales reps barely make commission on anything Apple.

I wonder if it has anything to do with Verizon's more recent adoption of the iPhone. I really have no idea how long it has been but if it was less than 2 years ago, or even close to that, many people would probably not buy it until they get an available upgrade.

A&T lets users grandfathered in with unlimited plans keep their unlimited plans with the iPhone 5. Verizon does not. I don't know if that's a reason, but it's worth mentioning.

I thought I read it on here AT&T did away with that as well. If I am wrong, then I'm sorry.

My felling on this is the perception of talking and surfing at the same time. IMHO.

I am on Verizon and my unlimited data plan is still grandfathered. I changed phones to a Bionic a year or so ago and the unlimited plan remained...

He is referring to the people who upgraded to the iPhone 5, not people who upgraded a year ago. But I believe that Verizon DID let people keep their unlimited if they pre-ordered the iPhone 5. I remember feeling sour about it because only people who pre-ordered the GS3 before a certain date could keep it, while they'll completely drop everything for apple users. I got to keep mine through my early GS3 pre-order, but this didn't seem fair for the people who pre-ordered or purchased any phone between Jun 28 and the iPhone 5 release who were forced to lose their unlimited.
