Not sure what you are saying, When burning with nero and another app I use nero express and click and drag the entire folder to the VIDEO_TS folder. Doesnt matter what's in it. It takes it all. Except for shrink, which I set to auto burn.

I think you're worrying to much about viewing it on your PC, Use a rw and if it doesn't work you have lost nothing.

Oh I see! you're talking about 2 different things, you threw me there.

When I want to burn in conjunction with Shrink, I simply use it and it launches Nero automatically which burns fine the disc and is playable on any DVD player. However, if I try to burn movies I prepared already and saved on my HD and I follow the guise instructions I don't get the expected disc.

I use Nero Burning Rom, choose DVD-Video, copy all the prepared files to Video-TS, hit the Burn icon and the process starts, However, even though it's "burning" I don't get playable disc but a disc with the various info bup and VOB on it. In other words, I simply copies the files from my HD to the disc, while I think it should create an ISO file.

As I said, I'd rather know what I'm doing wrong, but I do burn successfully with Shrink or Recode which then use Nero to burn.

By the way, I switched to RW and it saved me 10-15 costers... :-)

Great piece of advice.

Use burn express(just below burning rom), much easier! Open it and then open where your files are, click and drag ENTIRE folder to VIDEO_TS and burn! so much simpler.

I know now why it didn't work before with Nero Burning Rom - I simply didn't double click on the Video_TS folder so the files were copied to the DVD root instead. Tried again and with Nero Express, as you suggested - much better and more intuitive. Someone should fix the guide here on AD, to inform users to use Express instead.

Another question - why under Audio I see twice AC3 2ch English and twice AC3 5.1ch English (plus foreign languages)?

They are identical sizes and I wonder why they show twice and if I can keep only one pair of them and delete the other.

Keep them both - there's not that much you're going to lose by keeping them both, the size won't vary that much -

It depends - if it the Director's cut - you lose nothing :)

If it's the Movie's audio - well :(

I don't think that one extra audio is going to make such a difference - Mayhaps Superman, with his X-ray vision could tell the difference but for a few MBs ? Naaaahhh, leave?em both there ?

I need some assistance and you guys might be able to help. I backup movies using DVD Shrink and Nero with no problem. They play nicely on my DVD player. However I didnt want to keep the menus and wasnt sure how to re author it.
My friend and I worked out how to re author using DVD Shrink and now we remove the menu and extras. On most movies the menu and extras are useless to me and causes the main movie to be compressed. Problem is they play om my comp, my friends comp and his LG DVD player. My Panasonic does not it comes up saying "cant play disc". My DVD player is around 2 years old and my friends LG player is 6months to a year. We burn using the same s/ware and same DVD burner.
Jus to re iterate I can play burnt movies on my DVD player but when the menus are removed they wont play.
I guess the answer is obviously my DVD player. Can you please give me a second opinion and any advice. It would be appreciated.

Donuthead, if all you want is the movie, when you open shrink and after it does it's 30to40sec analyze hit re-author. On the right side click and drag main movie(it will be the longest, usually Title 1) to the left side. That's it. There is no need to edit, or as you said take out extras and menu, etc. if all you want is the movie.

Enable nero to burn, edit>preferences>I/O file> enable nero.

Hit backup, use deep analysis if there is a lot of compression, set your temp folder and burner and leave til done. I would disable foreign languages, in fact you can do this where you enable nero under stream selections and put in english in both drop down menus. This will automatically remove other language tracks.

This should play immediately when inserted in your player. You can use >> or >>l to F.F. or search chapters on your player remote.
