Demonoid's tracker has returned to functionality.
After being taken down three months ago, in a raid that many thought would be the last nail in the coffin for the semi-private torrent tracker, thousands of torrents have returned.
The site's index and forum remain down, however, as the team works to bring the entire site back online.

That blasted ratio thing NEVER worked for me and many others. I would upload way more than I downed all for a grand ratio of 0.18 and some fwits going on about how much of a leach I was... I hated that broken ratio system on Demonoid with a passion and the ahole members who would constantly bang on about it.

FFunny, I never really tried that hard, but last I looked, I had a 3:1 ratio, or better.

The point is, since Demonoid was *not* a fully-private tracker, it also was reasonably easy to keep a decent ratio. I never really did anything unusual to keep my ratio up, I merely seeded what I downloaded *at least* to 1:1, and often far beyond that.
Furthermore, ratios failing to update is usually the fault of either the user's BT client or, alternatively, the user directly. For example, if "graceful shutdown" is not enabled, or the user has a tendency to shut down their client directly (without using the "Exit" command), their ratio will often not be reported to the tracker properly.
"That blasted ratio thing" is something you're going to find at any private or semi-private torrent site. You might want to learn how to deal with it.

LOL ... oh poor ChappyTTV ... you know they're just going on about invites and PM's because you initially ranted to stop doing that. Oh, how I miss Demonoid. I have soooo many back issues of comics when they finally come back up. No one, and I mean NO ONE, has a selection like Demonoid did.
Jemborg, when Demonoid comes back up (fingers, eyes, arms, and legs crossed) try uploading a torrent of something you already have a collection of. Something that others will want. That will feed your ratio as well.

Well, I'll look forward it's return too. I actually specialised in the rarer torrents in those days btw. But, funnily enough rj, not only was the upload amount at the top of the page wildly inaccurate so was the download. I just gave up caring. It's only when it was bought up it gave me the s#!ts. Told them to argue it with my isp. I'm not a liar. Nowadays I just seed whatever continuously. I'm way over 1:1 with 98% of my torrents. My isp randomly rotates my personal ip address on a frequent basis so...
I want to make this perfectly clear so that there is no misunderstanding... the old Demoniod upload/download/ratio DID NOT work for me ok? I do NOT give a rats IF anyone think posted this as a lie (though why you think I could be bothered to utterly baffles me).

Thanx Bozobub, I guess it did come off a bit harsh didn't it.
He's right though LessSally, whenever we invite someone, all their activity counts against the member who invited them. If you got banned for any reason, I would be banned as well. And if you turned out to be a huge Leecher, I could be banned for that too so it's good to know who you're inviting.
You are correct on all counts on this. I am/was a mbr of Demon as well, and so far I only gave out invites to 2 people, both of which I've known personally for over 10 years. Demonoid takes their membership very seriously, if for no other reason that to avoid the DDoS and other problems as much as possible. Yes, it still happens obviously, but if anyone and everyone were allowed in they would've vanished a long time ago, and we wouldn't even be reading a story about them.

Heheh...maybe, but I seriously think they were on the up-&-up rather than just being trolls (did I really rant?) ;)
The Noid was by far the best site, I never went there and not found what I was looking for and the forums were great! Absolutely correct, their selection was second to none and I would jump up & down like a lil kid if they were to come back. I really hope they do but for some reason I have a bad feeling about that...

Demonoid is not back, only the tracker has shown some signs of life and that's sporadic.

I'm just browsing the torrents right now & the site looks different, but the lil demon is still gracing the pages so we'll see how this new site is. The number of torrents available is way less than the usual Demonoid had but we kind of expected that after the hardware was seized and it seems to be an open site (not private & no login)...but THE NOID IS BACK!
EDIT - It sucks...nothing like the old Noid and basically points you to other sites that have the torrent file so it seems that it's just a search engine.

Yes, I'd agree now that I've checked it out further.
I was just so overjoyed to see that smiling demon I just had to post about it. It still may be just the beginnings of the full site comeback so I'm going to keep my eye on it for awhile.

It's gotta start someplace doesn't it Jem. I only wonder just how much of the site they were able to save before the seizure, I heard their site backups were incomplete. This is just an indexing service right now but I'm sure there will be some news about it's ownership soon, whether it's actually Demonoid related or a name rip-off.

Demonoid.me most recently re-directed to demonoid.hk - Hong Kong. Not anymore though, as far as I know.
If I were you, I would look to TorrentFreak for up-to-date news on Demonoid's situation (that said, there hasn't been any news in a while now really).

My ratio would take at least a whole week to update xD
Easily my favorite torrent site. I have a feeling I'll peruse the site for a few hours in one sitting when the site is back online.

Like I said above Ofnir, it may have something to do with my ISP's policy of randomly rotating it's members IPs from a large pool so they can't be tracked.
I wouldn't get too exited yet... they could have been just ripping off the Demonoid name and logo.
