Ericsson previously sued Samsung in 2006 over patents. Kasim Alfalahi, Ericsson's chief intellectual property officer, noted the lawsuit covered patents related to GSM, GPRS, 3G and LTE mobile ... [ read the full article ]

So they had an agreement that expired in 2011, and now they decide, saying our negotiations are not going well then... lets SUE SUE SUE, i mean take judge with common sense and say this is a contract renegotiations, stop using the courts as you agreed with them before so you know they are using them (patents)

seeing as ericsson has broke off from sony witch was ericsson who wanted to go there own way. I see this as nothing more then money and now that ericsson don't have the money to do much. They see Samsung as a easy target and if ericsson is going to charge over the odds bring it on.

I think all the mobile phone companies should come together and for a group for fair pricing like has been don't with the fair trade product. This would be better for consumers and better for all around . would keep the prices some what down and also not let mobile phone companies like apple charge over the odds for there products and give the little companies a chance to get there products out a have a better market all around and more choice. as we now globile a new iphone costs $1000 us price and that is a ridicules price to pay.

We are the ones that keep the companies in business we are the ones that need to make our voice heard and make a stand. for many years we been getting ripped off and nothing has been done. This is why I think a group should be formed by all mobile phone companies and maybe even networks to. the group would be independent and would be fair across the board and back up the consumer and the companies so everyone can be happier then they are now.

I'd like to just point out a odd parallel that seems to be happening.

Why is it as these companies are forcing their customers into mandatory arbitration they themselves are running for the high courts to make their decisions?

Are their own arbitration lawyers not up to the task of deciding "real" business decisions, like customers claims are in a totally different reality? They should have to follow their own methods and decide this for themselves. These lawyers are making billions while the companies that hired them are going bankrupt just trying to defend themselves.

And we wonder why the US economy is in the shitter. Money is a finite thing. If 100's of billions of dollars is tied up in one area then other areas suffer.
