Made a full backup of Gothika. Played about halfway through on my PS2 then started skipping terribly. Brought it over to my girlfriends house who has a Pioneer DVD player- played flawlessly, except for a couple skips during the end credits.

Made a full backup of Butterfly Effect. Again played halfway through on my PS2 the started skipping terribly - started to get unable to read disc errors and such. Even using scene selection and starting the movie halfway through - still skipped.

Bought a Toshiba DVD player with Progressive scan. This one read both DVD's and played them much better than the PS2 but still would skip a little halfway through. In fact Butterfly effect skipped really bad towards the end.

I have tried different combinations of burning programs (DVDSHrink&Nero-DVDShrink&CloneDVD2-AnyDVD&CloneDVD2) I've tried different speeds - maximum down to 2x.

Only thing I can think is the Media or just the particular DVD's I'm trying to backup.

Any suggestions.

Normal symptoms of poor media or the use of labels on your DVD's - what brand of media are you using?

If you are using labels on your burnt DVD's - these will also often lead to playback problems.

Some cheapo liquid media.

What do you guys reccommend.

Burning is done by Lite-on 811S 8x Playback done on Toshiba DVD player and PS2.

Two of the better media would be Ritek or Verbatium. Make sure they are listed as Grade A.

The only difference is how they look,the matte finish is more fingerprint resistant,but other than that,both would suit you just fine.
As long as they are compatible with your burner and standalones.
