I have a Sony DVD burner. I have not been able to burn a clean DVD copy using DVD Shrink and Intervideo DVDCopy. All my copies freeze almost at the end of the movie and some others freeze in other places. Same results usind DVD XCopy.
What I am doing wrong?
Is there a error free method to make copies of movies?

Learn to do it right.

My first thought would be ... poor quality media or your burning speed is too high.

We can be more helpful if you provided more information. For instance your system specs? O/S, processor, ram, hd size, free hd space, type of burner, and the type of media your using. You also might include which programs your using together and what steps your using. What version of XCopy? ... etc.

I have a Pentium 4 1.8 GHZ and 512mb of memory running Windows XP Home Edition. I have two HDD with a total of 45 GB of free space.
I have used TDK DVD+R and Office Depot DVD+R media to burn movies.
I have Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 with drag to disk activated (Once I deactivated Drag to disk and got same result)
I have also Notrot AntiVirus and Personal Firewal activated
The Xcopy version I have used is the platinum version 3.2.0

I used to use Roxio before I got Nero. You actually can get things to work with drag to disc ... you just have to turn it off in msconfig. But if you don't need it, best to keep it off.

I don't know about the office depot brand, but the TDK's are usually pretty good. I recommend using branded Verbatim or branded Ritek's.

Now things you need to do.
1) Make sure your burner's firmware is up to date. Which burner do you have?
2) Make sure your ide settings are set to DMA
3) Update your aspi layer: use v1.8, if unavailable use v1.7
http://wombleintheuk.tripod.com/Final/ForceASPI/ForceASPI.htm
4) Do you have another optical drive besides your dvd burner?
5) Get the most current versions of your copy software
You really should get XCopy Platinum v4.0.4.15RF, try to log on to the dvdxcopy website. If it's says unavailable for download, you'll have to e-mail support@321studios.com. Give them you license and password, and ask them to issue you a new ripper free license. Until then get Platinum v4.0.3.8 : http://www.nycsoftware.com/dvdxcopy/support/

Now I also suggest you get DVD Decrypter: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm

Using Shrink w/ Decrypter:
1) Open Shrink, open disc
2) Click "backup!"
3) Change the target destination to "ISO Image File", then check the box to Launch DVD Decrytper

Under the "backup options" tab, you can check the box to "perform deep analysis", this is to improve picture quality in longer movies.

4) Click ok.

Now I don't have Intervideo DVD Copy, but this is how I understand it works.
1) Use DVD Decrypter to rip the movie.(Doing this will remove any css encryptions)
2) Open dvd copy 2. For your source, browse for your video_ts file
3) Insert blank, and pick your burner as your target
4) Copy as "DVD", Start burn

Run no other programs when backing up dvd's. Hope this all helps, let me know :-)

If you haven't done so already, make your dvd burner your master drive and make the cd burner the slave.

aspi tells your drive needs something to tell it what to do and with what to do it with. And yes, it's ok for XP
