Over the years we have seen numerous anti-piracy ads created by groups like the MPAA and RIAA, most of which have bordered on ridiculous.
The most infamous of all-time is most likely the "You Wouldn't Steal a Car" series in which words fly out ... [ read the full article ]

Silly as it is, I wonder if they're just trying to create some buzz around the internet. In other words, dirt cheap advertisement.

That's quite obvious, and they succeeded at least a little.
I think people should step back, however, and give them some credit. They were smart enough to create a digital delivery channel before the theatrical release, after all. Compare this to the major studios, who don't even release at the same time worldwide, much less create other distribution channels; at least not for several months to a year, maybe.
This is a step in the right direction for the movie industry, not that I expect the major movie houses to pay any attention.

Well I never woulda heard of this movie barring this story on the warning. I can only give them half credit though because while I watched the warning I have no interest in the movie pirated or otherwise...

What'd you expect from an indie horror film? I'll watch it, when I can get a legal copy, simply to reward a less-foolish approach to piracy.
