I have a problem with my TV & Home Theatre Setup
TV: LG TV LM6410 LED
Home Theatre: Samsung HT-E5550W
Connected as follows
1. TV (optical audio out) -----> Samsung (Optical Audio In)
2. Samsung (HDMI out) -----> TV (HDMI In)
USB hard drive with movies tested as follows.
1. Connect USB to TV, play movie, audio stream to samsung via optical
2. Connect USB to samsung, play movie, video stream to tv via hdmi
Big difference in max volume between the 2 methods.
#2 ? usb movies from samsung, audio is much louder and more powerful.
Any way to close this gap?

i would imagine putting it through the home theatre first it will be amplified ,different sources may sound different depending on what way things are routed.
are you looking at the tv or selecting a hd input from amp like hdmi1?

Same file
I connected the usb drive to the tv, played the movie with audio streamed via optical to hometheatre
Then i connected usb to hometheatre, played the movie with video streamed to tv via hdmi out
The second way audio is more powerful, perhaps because the file is processed direct and amplified better
Though the annoying thing is i think the 3D video feature will suffer the same disparity between these methods in the reverse order
So either picture suffers or audio
