Review: The Google Nexus 4

article published on 6 January, 2013

In early November, Google announced their latest Nexus phone, simply called the Nexus 4. The device is built by LG and packs high-end specs along with a price tag that is unbeatable. Google decided to skip the carriers with the new device, instead selling it through their own Google Play Store starting at $299. Unfortunately, the company was met with launch day hangups that caused ... [ read the full article ]

¿How can performance be 10 out of 10 and hardware 8 out of 10? ¿Just because there is "better hardware outthere? I mean if the hardware gives you a 10 in preformance ¿shouldnt it be 10 in hardware?

A lack of memory expansion would do that for 1. But it doesnt hinder performance

You are right. I'd also include a fixed battery and a glass back cover as hardware negative points. Almost every phone maker is copying the iPhone with this, but it doesn't make it a nice practice (I'd say quite the opposite). The camera is also a piece of hardware, and there are far better ones out there.

Besides all that, neither better hardware does always imply better performance, because a different version of the OS may also affect it drastically, nor better performance would necessarily mean better hardware, since the best performance can be achieved by shortening the life of the processor, for instance, by overclocking it. So, durability is also an important factor for measuring hardware quality, but not for performance.

Both hardware and software will affect performance, and this device runs a "vanilla" version of Android, which also will boost responsiveness (and speed in general) up, without having to improve any physical components.

you can't increase the memory of any phone. The storage size is fine since you can store on the cloud for free. This phone for the price is awesome. $300 out of contract is outrageously awesome. If it could work on sprint I would score one asap.
Aside from pulling a battery after a freeze when have you ever had to open the back of your phone. The camera could be better, but it doesn't need to be. What phone comes close to this one?

I would say the DNA and the Note 2 are direct competitors with this phone. And I have the Galaxy S3 and while it is only dual core, it is keeping me happy enough to not be avidly looking for the next best thing as usual.

Not even close the same price tag.

... Which means top smartphone in the world ;)

There is no competition to this hardware in this price tag. Not even Windows phones. And, of course, Apple can't be considered (in fact, this phone beats the iPhone 5 at half the price, IMHO).

Yes, definitely. I don't consider Windows phones as competitors against Android. And I already gave up on Apple years ago.

I disagree... Partially. As for now, Nokia Lumia 920 is probably the best smartphone ever made. But... It's also very expensive, so out of the competition as well.
