Hi All,

I have just built my dad a pc and we have started backing up his very large DVD collection but we are having some problems with Nero locking up when burning a DVD while connected to the internet.

System is XP-2500, Gigabyte GA-700L m/board,512 meg ram, Pioneer DVR-107D, 80Gig HDD, Leadtek TDH-350Xt and Generic 56k modem...

I have burned 4 backups using a combination of DVD Shrink and Nero, all have worked like a charm, however when I am connected to the net with Mozilla Firefox open and go to burn a DVD, I click on burn and Nero starts the lead-in process but then stalls at 1% and locks up. I can't close Nero down nor eject the DVD from the drive, my only option is to do a restart via the reset button on the case...

The system I put together for him is part of an old system of mine, I used to use the CPU, M/board, ram, vid card and 56k modem and my system had the same problem...then I went to ADSL with an external modem/router and my problem went away...it would seem having the modem connected to the internet is causing the problem, anybody have any thoughts?

hi stylyn
Most people in here will tell you, that you should never do anything with your computer when Nero is burning.(except maybe talk sexy to it lol)Nero only takes 30 minutes tops(maybe even less) depending on the speed of your burner.Try to find something else to do for that 30 minutes, that doesnt involve your pc.The fact that you were succesfull before, without mozilla should tell you something.I use mozilla too(great browser btw)but it uses alot of your system resources.
Like one of the more experienced members in here Scubapete(luv ya uncle pete)
keep your hands and feet away from ms.computer, when burning!!
good luck
jim
