ok why is it when using decryptor or shrink, it goes along at a nice speed then all of a sudden slows to a crawl from over 2000kb/sec to below 50 and it sez now will take 35 hours to finish any way to keep it at a fast pace or any suggestions?

Does it do this on every rip? Have you re-checked your ide settings? And did you ever install a "working" aspi layer?

Feel that your problem may be related to free hard disk space available - conservative but 10 to 15 GB free h/d space recommended for successful burning - search yr computer for older iso/vts files and delete.

ctcwicked,
If that is happening during the read the I think that would indicate a disk that has bad sectors or it has been mis-pressed by the studio. If this is during the write then you could have gotten yourself into PIO Mode. No PIO Mode should take 35 hrs though. You specs indicate 200gb HD. I would de-frag the HD and then do what flip218 states and make sure the burner settings are correct( Master) on the secondary IDE Channel. Colw also offers great advice on the amount of freespace you need . If you have filled up a 200gb HD w/ data it might be time to remove some of those files :)

Car.Mike,

Those be my specs :)

@ctcwicked,

Can you post your specs? I saw it in another thread, but you didn't post your HD and free HD space.

Have you tried any of these?

Defragging your HD?
Checked your IDE settings?
Installed a aspi layer?

flip218,
These eyes are getting real bad as I get older. Probably need better glasses. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

ctcwicked,
Start
My Computer and right click that
Properities and click that
Click Hardware
Click Device Manager
You will see in the list IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers(click the + sign and expand the list)
Go to first Secondary IDE Channel and right click that
Properities and click that
You will see Advanced Settings click that
Under Transfer Mode it should say DMA if available
Under Current transfer Mode it should say DMD or Ultra DMA Mode 2

Hope the above is not to confusing
