I don't think that that is slashing of the price. More like a small price drop. Ether way its still over priced.

If they can get the 15 inch mac book pro (2.7 GHz + 16GB RAM) down to $999, that'll be a steal!

will NEVER happen. well, to be fair, for a premium laptop with that config, it cannot happen either for windows lappies.

So they just modified the pricing of the ones w/ Retina Display and the Air model )which were overpriced anyway)...not the standard MacBook models. Way to obfuscate!

I've built a number of machines with top of the line Crucial or OCZ non-Sandforce synchronous or toggle NAND SSDs.

Does anybody know (for sure, no fanboy speculation please) what SSDs they actually use in their machines??

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.
