This "The system allows you to simply Suspend it - mid-gameplay - and Resume it later" and "will allow you to play games as you download them"... too bad im out off consoles PC only for while, maybe when prices are more reasonable. Happy to see things that actually meter!

They likely want to show PS4 at E3, why put all your thunder and hype in one basket?

Well there's one big non-announcement. Sony must be hurting for positive press.

Will probably get one, but it apparently being basic PC hardware is a bit of a yawn. 8GB RAM is good for the masses of lazy developers who hate optimizing code, I guess.

Prices said to be around 430.00, wonder what the game prices will be?
Im sure that walmart will sell it and places like costco will offer extended warranties.
So the price of a unit with warranty and 1 game (perhaps dl) will run around 560-580.
Stout price but doable easily if people are saving now.

Ahh the console wars renewed.
The last one was the reason I joined AD. Met some good people had some fun times. I was a firm Sony fanboy fighting the cause of the PS3 and ended up buying an Xbox (well really 2 like almost everyone else the 1st one RROD'd :p).
Point is that is what taught me that brand loyalty is irrelevant stick with what works for you at the time when you need it.
For example I have both iOS and android devices and I love them all because they serve the purpose that I bought them for.
As we enter this season of hotheadedness and fanboyism I implore you all to keep a level head cut out the fights and insults and just have civil discussion about this new console cycle. Lets keep AD nice and not give the MODs too much of a hard time for the next few month. After all its hardware we've never tough yet we really can only speculate about what either can really do.
XXYYQQOO!!! Yeah WELCOME TO JAMROCK

Sooooooo........this is nothing more than a more "networked/networkable" and sharable PS3. Graphics and games are the same as now and the hardware is SLIGHTLY beefed up.
Anyone that buys into this lame-ass excuse for a "4th generation" console with the intent to replace their PS3 is a MORON!

Well, that is sad...not that I was planning to get one, but I had hoped that the ps4 would have good specs so developers would feel more confident making advanced games. Well, at least it has some ram...so no one should feel afraid of making something like Skyrim or Fallout. Let's see how the xbox next looks.

It's a good point... my guess it's about the new hardware costs and a game's development/production costs really.
They really did an about-face here, much more so than I thought they might. They must have felt really burned by the innovation experiment of the ps3 not working as well as they hoped. Sad, I could see what they were trying to do with the ps3 and it was a bold move but it must have been too tricky to program for and keep costs realistic. The end results weren't that much better (or perhaps even worse) if the game was cross-platform and/or didn't have piles of cash thrown at it. They could be but only if you had the resources of a big investor like Sony itself a-la the brilliant Drake's Uncharted series.
Maybe they should have called it the PS180. :D
Meanwhile my OUYA arrives in the post next month...

They replied to IGN twice that they will NOT block used games or require online only to play them.

Money doesnt mean jack for those that can easily afford it. I bought both the previous consoles, so what. People over play prices and crap. That is the reason why i own 2 companies so that i can buy whatever i want whenever i want.

I'll try... but ironically the OUYA will will only get any good if it gets popular!
The idea is to have a set piece of hardware that gets programmed specifically for and a large supportive community so its maximum potential is realised. (As opposed to the generalised cross-platforming nature of ordinary android games). You already realise all this I'll bet.
As to Steam and Linux... they already have their Piston Engine or Steam Box or God Nose based on the Xi3 in the works for that. So no to that probably... Onlive seems the go here.
Cheers.

No i simply get tired of hearing and reading about people moaning about prices and functions and power, a bunch of yada yada about nothing.
If the system is out of someone's price range then they should not try to own it now. I promise that if the tag was 299, the internet would be on its ear with people clamoring to get one.
Another thing is that i dislike people's opinions based nearly on sony hate. So they are not making the next big thing, ok, simply do not purchase one and keep it moving. That is the way that i see it. I will buy one and if it isnt what i expect then ill take it back to costco or i will toss it on the shelf with the other systems that i have racked up over the past 27 years.
But, i sure as hell am not going to allow a sub 1000.00 price tag stop me from getting one.

Did your daddy give you the two companies to run? From the way you talk about money you sound more like a kid with a silver spoon in his mouth than a disciplined business man.
