Apple has announced today that its iTunes U catalog has seen one billion downloads.
The catalog, full of thousands of free lectures, is available around the globe.
iTunes U is currently available in 30 countries and features lectures from 1200 universities and colleges along with another 1200 k-12 schools.

Make me think that it's mostly just an indexer site of already readily available existent lectures and courses. There are other indexing sites too. Apple is just claiming credit for them...not like they've ever done that before. :)
