Analyst Pachter: PS4 and Xbox 8 games will cost $70

article published on 13 March, 2013

THIS is exactly why the Ouya will do very well. There's no damn excuse for making games so expensive.

I wouldn't lend a lot of credit to this guys opinions. Xbox TV will flop, with all the smart tv's and roku boxes. People don't need another TV tuner plus that's quite a bit of wasted hardware cost.

Nintendo winning software?? I've never used a WeeU but as nobody is glowing about its online presence I assume it's about what the wii was, nonexistent for people over the age of 10. The rest is just obvious from the nintendos refusal to move away from their own platform.

The rest is just pure BS. No bankruptcies? This articles from a few days ago, I'd say a 1/2 dozen game companies went under since then. And the PC as a gaming platform is almost an antiquity.

Nope. I'll refer you to every single year PC gaming has existed, where your exact "prediction" has been made, all the way back to the Commodore 64 and before. I still have Compute! and Byte magazines from back then, with various pundits making the same claim.

If I bought a game for that much..........I'd play on the hardest level every time and get my money's worth.

Like anything else they (the publishers) will charge what they can for their product, but if people aren't willing to spend that amount of money, after a period of time, they will then drop their prices to attempt to break even. It just means if I can't afford the game brand new I'll just have to wait a few months to get it.

Keep your head up, keep alert, and don't let them take you by suprise.

This is the exact thing everyone should do. The idea that a game is better or somehow worth more the day it comes out is idiotic. If anything PC games have proven that waiting 3 months or longer is actually better. By then patches for bugs that "somehow" got past all the beta testers and DLC worth playing will be out. Instead when you buy a game on day 1 you are the beta tester and even worse you paid for the right to test their game for bugs (or in SimCity's case stress tester for their servers).

Why restrict yourself?

Simply refuse to pay stupid gouging lauch prices on everything, from games to films to music.
They all come down in price and they will be just the same thing except at least 1/3rd or more cheaper.

Don't get sucked in by the marketing & advertising.
Better keep more of your money in your pocket than someone else's.

If their definition of a game = complete with all dlc then I say hooray. Gamers know that the full experience of a game sets us back $120 or more. It's just too much.

The ONLY way I'd be ok with this is if it was like buying a printer. Buy the PS4 for $199 or less and they make up the profit in software. $70 a game. But if it's $600 for the system and $70 a game plus charging for DLC. I'll pass. honestly the PS2 and PS3 libraries are full of titles I have not played yet. i could stay busy with just those alone.

YES! My backlog is about 10 games long already. I have a feeling playing 360 games on the new console is going to make them look like crap. Kind of how xbox1 titles look on the 360. I was thinking of holding off buying a new 360 slim but I think I'll get one. They will prob go on sale when the 720 comes out anyway. My Elite is just too loud and the tray jams all the time.
