hi, i'm trying to burn movies that i've downloaded off the internet on to a cd but it isn't working. this is exactly what happened: i transfered the .avi file and pressed burn... it took about 2 hours for it to encode the file and then started the burning process at 8x. after it finished, i tried to play the cd back but the only things that burned on to the cd were these folders... with no movie. do you know why this is? i'm using LG cd-r's if that makes a difference at all. thanks in advance for the help~ =)

i dont think you can burn AVI files to normal cd-r disks, you're gonna have to convert the file to either a SVCD or VCD i think. look up on www.suprnova.com for an AVI converter

hi thanks for replying.
actually, when i open Nero and choose to burn a video-cd, it says that i can burn either AVI or mpeg. so instead of burning the cd right away this time, i pressed play to preview it and the picture wouldn't come out. is there certain codecs needed for Nero to burn a cd? i've done it before in the past.. but they all came out krappy because the speed was too high.

The best way to burn a VCD in Nero would probably be to go to:

Recorder -> Burn image

From there you can select either the BIN or CUE (as long as you have a BIN)files that the splitter made and Nero will do the rest. :)

i'm not sure what you mean. all the movies i have are in AVI. format and not bin or cue. i dont even know what those are o_O i know that Nero does everything when it burns.. first encodes the AVI to mpeg and then records on to the cd, but for some reason the picture doesn't show up at all. i'm wondering if i'm missing a certain codec although the movies show up fine on my media player

Here is a pretty good guide:

i've downloaded the program you suggested but is it totally necessary to convert the avi's to mpeg using another program? since Nero can do that already. well.. i downloaded divx 3 codec. before when i tried to preview the movies in Nero, the sound came out and no picture. now after installing divx3, there's picture but no sound. i know if i can get them both to work probably in Nero preview then they'll most likely burn correctly. help!

It is a good program. :) Get GSpot :P, it will tell you what codecs you need.
