Netflix to lose large amount of titles this month

article published on 1 May, 2013

Instantwatcher, a company that catalogs Netflix's streaming catalog says the site will lose almost 1800 titles in May. All 15 seasons of South Park are set to disappear as are some older films like Goldfinger and Dr. No. Netflix's current licensing deals with MGM and Warner Bros. and some other studios are set to expire. The drop will be the largest since Netflix's deal with Starz ... [ read the full article ]

Ugh. Every time I think of going back to NetFlix, they pull another stunt.

Dammit.

Sounds like their 15 minutes is up... Guess I should finish the all the shows I have queued up and if the selection does not improve look to other ways to get streaming shows/movies. I have been liking HBO Go more and more even though it is limited to HBO content. At least I can get some recent movies on there.

Lucky the Bay still has everything you need, and you don't have to waste money or bandwidth more them once per download.

I'll stick my foot up your ass.

If there was ever a strong reminder to people about why some of us still want to "own" physical media, this is it. I have Netflix and love it, but this is sad. Surely they could have extended their licensing agreements. Oh well...

Netflix's downfall will only be due to the greedy content owners that want to bleed a penny out of their IP. They still haven't figured out that most people aren't going to pay X dollars for something 2, 3, 4 and 5 times over.

I understand it sucks when programming/content you enjoy is removed but it is only $8.00 what do you expect?

I don't think I could ever hold onto a service that frequently gets rid of so many titles. I work at DISH with a guy who told me that they're even losing SpongeBob SquarePants. That's my daughter's favorite cartoon, and if I depended on Netflix for what my family watches, this would be the deal breaker. Fortunately, I don't have to explain to my daughter that she can't watch SpongeBob because we have access to all eight seasons through DISH's Blockbuster @Home. They have 100,000 titles to choose from, and they constantly add new releases, so we never worry about losing hundreds of titles every month.

I expect them to be at least remotely comparable to illegal methods of obtaining the same content, that's what.

You just have to explain why Daddy can't get anything cause you lost the signal.

HBO Go is restricted to US residents only, even though many countries outside of the US offer HBO as part of their cable package. -_-
