I thought all new PCs came installed with it anyway?

Don't think (according to the above logo) that Win8 is that piratable yet ...correct me if I'm wrong.

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.

I installed Win8 on something the other day but as far as I could see you need the key code to enter during the install.

Been fooling with it a bit. I don't hate it but it needs a lot of taming. It can be confusing at first but you get used to it. Everything is still there. Key shortcuts are a must. It might be a bit of a pain to use with a laptop touchpad in the startscreen. There's a pretty blatant attempt by MS to sell you a whole lot of crap al la Apple. But, like smartphones, you can ditch a lot of those apps. I understand that if you use a small suite of dirt cheap progs you gain an enormous amount of control over it. It starts incredibly fast with an SSD. I expect sites like Lifehacker to offer advice concerning privacy in regards to the OS in the future.

I can't see businesses liking it very or wanting to use/change to it though.

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.

I heard about SSD's booting really fast on Windows 8. Since I have one, I'm very interested in trying it. Perhaps this weekend.

Cold start is faster than Restart.

Startup applications are prioritised more now and I found a section where you get major control over that and which has more impact. I managed to stop a couple of erroneous utility progs from running at startup. Although I'm still not sure where the startup folder is... if there is one.

It was strangely disconcerting to not have to set up AV.

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.

My company will not upgrade to Win8. We are so happy with Win7.

And about the article, pirating windows? Gah. If you bought the hardware, just buy the damn OS too!
