article published on 26 June, 2013

According to Strategy Analytics, India has surpassed Japan to become the world's third largest smartphone market, behind China and the U.S. The news is not too surprising given that India has a population of 1.3 billion, but it is notable as Japan has long held the spot. Apple, Samsung and Indian Android OEM Micromax have been driving higher sales thanks to improved distribution, says ... [ read the full article ]

the general customers in india simply don't understand the quality difference between a standard brand and a brand that offers cheapo. micromax/karbonn does not come even close to apple, samsung, sony, HTC in terms of reliability, performance (no matter what specs they offer), and above all, customer service. i own a karbonn tablet, and i know how horrendous the product is, and how pathetic the service is. despite my valid warranty, they won't fix the problems, and it is a paperweight now. i am so mad that i am running a community to warn people about karbonn:

I am in complete agreement. A couple of months back I preferred Samsung Salaxy Grand i9082 at Rs. 17,000/= over a much higher spec and latest Micromax available at Rs.15,500/-

There is not a single actual Indian manufacturer of smartphones in India. For that matter there are simply none in India. These so called independent distributors are simply rebranding a low cost Chinese product. Of these there are dime a dozen in China!
