Nice, but I don't understand why this standard doesn't support 4k resolution (4096x2304 @ 16:9)

Now Monster has an excuse to over charge for cables that are "HDMI 2.0 Certified".

The games are not going to be that high and just how much 4k content is there really??

I see your point though as I got a 3rd gen XBOX that had HDMI and I know others that had to buy a new one just to get HDMI. Of course I rarely buy a console at launch anyway and wait for at least revision 2. I think the Wii U is the first console I got right away since the SNES.

2160p is an accepted resolution for UltraHD (4K) so, yes, it does support 4K.

Thats odd, have you tired changing the settings in the 360?

It is nice that HDMI is staying ahead of the curve. After all, the next-next-gen consoles might actually be capable of producing images at higher than 1080P@60hz...and that's probably only about 6 years away. Heck, by then people will have rebought most of their DVD collections on BluRay, so it will be time to release a new format. Until then however, it seems that HDMI 2.0 won't be terribly useful for anyone except people with large, expensive PC screens (that could just as easily use DVI) and for a handfull of people willing to spend several thousand dollars to watch a handful of documentaries in higher quality.

scorpNZ - Hook the xbox up to your friend's screen and check the HDMI settings, it might be set to something that your screen doesn't support. HDMI 2.0 isn't going to help you; if anything, it will create more confusion and problems for people trying to input 4K signals into 720P screens.

BECAUSE..............4K is so far off that it's not worth mainstreaming yet.

I'm betting 4K broadcasts are 7 years off. I predicted a 10 year stretch about 3 years ago and so far, I'm feeling fairly accurate.

Even 3D hasn't mainstreamed and 4K is no different. People are just too satisfied with 1080 and moreover....1080p isn't even available except on Blu-ray. What makes peeps think that 4K will by any quicker to adopt?

I saw a 4K TV in a local BestBuy. They had some demo source with footage from a soccer game. The picture was really nice. I literally stepped into the display area to get a close up look at the screen. I could see the extra detail ... when I was a few feet from the screen. Stepping back to a "normal" viewing distance it didn't look any better than a 1080p source. While my eyes aren't perfect, they are at least average.

I will predict that 4K will be much like 3D - cool, but not worth the investment for most people. Besides, there are people that still think that DVD quality is good enough.

I'm going to try again when i get the 360 back, the settings in the 360 should be fine since it worked without changing anything tho i will check,i did read not long ago that the 360 was fickle when it came to hdmi,i suspect it's because my tv is old 08-09 about the same age as the 360 i have, does seem odd tho since hdmi is a standard like usb 2.0 across devices
