I have read the guides and searched and I have been unable to find any help about the following problem. I am using DVD X Copy Platinum (3.2, I think) and an Hp dvd writer. My problem is that I have a dvd drive and a dvd r drive but my dvd drive won't read certain DVDs and so I am having trouble copying them. Is there any way I can copy the DVD using JUST my DVD-R drive?

Yes tinsel, it's easy -

Place the original in the drive for the first 1/2, the "read" part - when you're asked for a blank disc - insert one :)

BTW, Welcome to A/D,

Ooohh hey there little Buddy,

Don't run off so fast - let me give you a parting gift for playing here on our forum - It's called 321GONE - use it with DVD XCopy Xpress, it gets rid of that silly little "Warning" notice that 321 puts in frount of your backup :-)

Enjoy,

Better yet ... Since you have XCopy Platinum, get Platinum RF(ripper free).

Why RF(ripper free)? ... Because RF is the most current version and the browse button works, so your able to burn movies(video_ts files) saved on your HD. And along with a patch called 321rip, Platinum RF becomes a ripper version again :) And with RF you don't get the "DVD Backup" warning screen

To get Platinum RF ... e-mail support@321studios.com, give them your current license and password, and make sure you ask them to issue you a new ripper free license. Once you've installed RF, get 321rip(download and execute the patch).

Thanks for the help guys...

ScubaPete, I thought I would be able to do that, but it never prompts me to put the disc in! That is my problem. Once it finishes reading, it just basically stops. Does it have to be done in advanced mode because I have been trying express mode.

Yep, another HP writer... go return it.. lol.

j/k

Anyways, suspect that their may be a software conflict since it's not kicking out the original. Also, what type of dvds are you attempting to backup?

When it stops, insert your blank disc and it should start right up -

And yes, try it in the Advanced mode :)

cheers,

Pete

New Here!

How about using only (1) one drive to copy with Express? Is that possible?

tgvas,

Have you started to read this thread from the top of the page ?

It's what we've been chatting about - apply it to your proggy and see if it works -

Could be a plan, ya think ?
