The following comments relate to this news article:
article published on 25 September, 2013
YouTube will be radically redesigning its comments section, a section which is globally infamous as being a cesspool for racism, anti-Semitic comments, sexism, homophobia and overall terrible grammar and fanboyism.
Starting today, the comments section will now be transformed into "conversations that matter to you," and will be tied to the commenter's Google+ account.

I'm totally uninterested in having my youtube account tied to my google+ account. Every time the pop up appears to have me link them I always say to keep my youtube username.
Also 'relevant' for one person is not the same for the next. Especially if they are using up/down votes. I have seen perfectly legitimate responses downvoted just to be jerks.

Hmm... Well I don't use google+, but I think that tying your comments somewhere isn't exactly a bad thing. As my process goes, you post it, you own it.
Granted there are a lot of hater out there, but that'll exist no matter where you go in life. Can't be good if you don't have haters? :P

So tired of seeing this. As a web developer, I must have dozens of YouTube accounts for clients, who have no desire to be tied into the Google+ crap, or use their "real name" for their YouTube Channel.
I wish YouTube would go back to being separate from all other Google services. Even changing your channel's icon is a hassle these days (Picasa photos tied in now... ugh.)

I don't see the problem here. Comments as they are are completely useless and might as well be turned off.
There is no requirement for uber-Google+ interaction. Simply create a G+ page for yourself so that your comments can be indexed. You can ignore G+ as much as you always have if that is what you wish.
Oh, Im sorry... Did the middle of my sentence interrupt the beginning of yours?

I mainly refuse to use Google+ exactly because they are pushing it so damned hard.
I am so, so glad that I got my GMail account before Google+ was made necessary for signup. Bleah.

Ditto (I agree with Bozobub, Sprodigy, and Ryooki).
I also wish Youtube would go back to us having usernames
instead of our real names.
I've also tried to change my avatar pic in Gmail, but it
still shows the same avatar pic I've used in the past!
As for the Comments section, I often post comments for
youtube videos I like and then I forget about what I posted,
unless it's a conversation involving my youtube uploads.
Schmbluuuuuuuuuugh! :P

i NEVER login to Google unless I need either g-drive, gmail, picasa, or youtube. And if I do, I always remember to logout right away.
Because Google tracks your every move otherwise. I signed up to get my monthly activity report from Google as well, just to see what they track.
I also dumped Chrome in favor of Opera.
Dammit - they're probably crawling this right now. I'm dead.

Afterdawn- i think you could use more ads on these pages. Wtf? My ipad is having seizures over here.
Yeah, youtube is the most disgusting place on the web because of its comments. Why yt does nothing to police and censor what people says is beyond me. Its really gross.

I don't think google realises that most people on youtube don't really care for "conversations".
Youtube is a place where most (not all) post random/stupid/silly/etc. comments based on what they've watched.
I understand that their aim is for more "conversational" videos relating to politics, finance, etc. but I don't see how they should try to "fix" the entire youtube experience.
