I was reading this thread and I thought I'd make a comment about the different audio tracks. Usually when there are 2 AC3 2CH, one of them is usually the director's comments. The other one is usually the same as the AC3 5.1, but only 2 channels. I don't know why they put this in there, because every DVD player I've tried will play the 5.1 as 2 channel. You can check out what they are by right clicking on the preview window in DVD Shrink and you can listen to each track and find out what they are.

Okay fokndave, thanks for the post. Though.. that movie where i found 2 similar things.. If i included everything i could't have burn because i had no enough room. You know how to make the compression maximum without losing much quality?

No, I sure don't. If there is too much there I usually make a movie only copy. If you really have to have everything, you can compress all of the extras to still pictures and then burn another disc with the movie compressed to still pictures. That way you can have a movie that's pretty decent on one disc and have the special features on the other disc. Since you're not reauthoring that way, the menus will still work. It takes two discs that way, but you'll still get fairly decent quality without having to change discs in the middle of the movie. Compressing the extras to still pictures leaves quite a bit more room for the movie. On the disc with the extras, after compressing the movie to still pictures, the extras probably won't have to be compressed, or not very much. You have to have the movie on there for the menu to work.

But some programs do though.. DVD X Copy for example. I would use this program if i had no errors writing on DVD±R Discs and if the program didn't add a 321 studios screen on the Dvd.

Phys,
Ya sly dog ... I almost wrote that I did LOTR 3 w/ Shrink and Decrypter. I thought it looked ok. But if you want good results with long movies, either use dl discs(too expensive right now though) or use DVD Rebuilder w/ CCE Basic.

Now everything is fine and i can burn succesfully my movies backup i use DVD Shirnk v3.2 and DVD Decrypter.
You can get those programs (free) in "software" page, check top of page.
If you don't have much RAM (i have 1 Go RAM), you better leave the computer alone in the burning process.
I have upgraded the DVDBurner, check on the first post page to get it.
If you encounter more errors or problems, post them here.

Hello
I have burned like 15 DVDs succesfully from now on.
But i have encountered an other error with DVD Shrink today.
I am using Shrink and Decrypter.
First i tried to analyse the DVD with Shrink but it says "protection error". So i decrypted it with Decrypter and then opened the "iso file" with Shrink.
But i get this message when analysing with Shrink : "DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Programming error - exception occurred". Can anybody help please ?
Thanks a lot

You get this error with the file ripped by Decrypter? Try to re-rip the movie.

re rip with Decrypter?
But flip, tell me if this is the right way to do:
1- Open Decrypter, Go in mode, Iso, Read
2- Decrypt the movie
3- Open Shirnk, go in file, open disc image
4- Then click backup and etc..
am I right?

Yea, or you can rip in file mode.
1) Open Decrypter
2) Click mode, and choose File F
3) Open Shrink, open file
4) Click "backup!", etc ...

Okay something doesnt work.
I'm trying to backup some of my movies and that's what i get as messages..
This problem occured with 2 movies.
I can't analyse with Shrink because of the "protections". So i try with Decrypter:
That's the error i get when in F mode.
I/O error
Device[0:1:0] DVD-ROM 16x 5.HV
CDB: 28 00 00 1F 7B C0 00 00 01 00
Interpretation: Read (10) - Sector:2063296
Reason: Impossible de satisfaire à la demande en raison d'une erreur de périphérique d'E/S.
which in english means something like: Impossible to continue due to a "periphérique" error.
Then i try with the Iso mode and i get the same error.
Can anyone help please?
Thank you

Hi there Phys!
I sometimes get that error too, so don?t fret. That error it is dependant on the source disc and how DVD Shrink processes the data, so this error is dependant on your DVD Shrink settings. As to why that is I do not know technically, but what I do know is that I can simply avoid that error by going into the preferences settings under ?Edit? in DVD Shrink, and clicking on the File I/O tab. Now remove the tick next to the option ?Enable overlapped I/O ? this may increase ripping performance? and you should be able to rip that particular disc.
Hope that helps.

Yes, both are original Fred.
Yes i ripped some of my other movies without problems.. It's just for these 2 that i get those errors.
Pirates of the carrabain is one of them. The other one is Cheaper by the dozen.
Okay i'll try what you are saying Kirin, thank you.
I'll let you know guys if it works or not.
Thanks to both of you

Hmmm, I've got both of those and have backed up using Shrink. Maybe you got a bad disc, or maybe you could try cleaning them.
or ... maybe it's them damn French again :)

As I recall now, I remember having to deal with that same problem when I tried to get DVD Shrink to analyse Pirates of the Caribbean (PAL version), as well as numerous others, but those I can't really recall the names of now.
Removing the tick from the checkered box next to ?Enable overlapped I/O ? this may increase ripping performance? will solve this error problem.
