I am trying to burn a movie using the lastest version of Nero when adding my vob files into the video folder i reach (vts_03_1.vob.nav) at this point I am told I cannot add this file as it is not video compliant,it then suggests I use vision express, but I don't want to spend hours recodings files.

Is there anyway to possibly remove the .nav file
The files were made with AVI converter which up to now has worked fine

Try using burn express located just below burning rom in the startsmart menu. Open a seperate window where your files are located. Click and drag the entire folder to the VIDEO_TS folder in express. Ignore the AUDIO_TS folder. Express will pick the files it needs to create your DVD. If your files are too large you will have to use recode to re-author and/or compress to make them 4.36 or less.

Problem Solved.

Ihave redone one of the movies i converted to DVD using AVI Converter and it is now working fine.

I am sure the problem started because I "batch" converted the three movies. On checking one of the other movies it had changed a 3 gig file into a 6.3 gig, obviously a problem with AVI converter

I recently read about your problem.

I am also having some difficulty with VOB, but my problem is a little different, instead of .nav..my Nero tells me, if i remember correctly, that i either need an iso or an ifo file...and that confused the hell out of me. I'm sorry but i am a newbie at this process. I have over 60 gigs of Anime on my computer, and they are all AVI files. I just want to burn them on dvd-rs and watch them on my tv. The first thing i'd like to know is when burning any video files..should i burn them as data or use the option (burn dvd video files). I used winavi to convert my files to VOB..and i am happy about the speed and efficiency. What i want to know is why i can't burn those VOB files onto my dvd. I am using the latest version of Nero. pleaz reply ASAP. PLEAZ

Have you tried burning them with express, not burning rom? Express will take only the files it needs, if you haven't, follow the directions in the previous post.

Also you can use NeroVision Express (NVE, different from burn express). It will convert your files and allow you to create your own working menu for your files and then burn to DVD. You can create chapters and all.

It then lets you preview your "dvd" before the burn with a software remote control, if all isn't to your liking you can go back and change it. When ready you burn right out of that program.

damn i have the oem version of Nero and i cannot download the plugin for the DVD option of burning. This is horrible. And plus Express is the same thing as the option of [burn dvd video files] on Nero start smart...so i am out of options..i mean i should be fine...is it Nero? or is it winavi?

i noticed that phil said he redid his files using AVI converter...if that is the name of the program then i have used it before. but the big problem with the trial is that it only converts 50 percent of the file which is really quite lame. Big orange, im sure you have alot of experience with this stuff...i would appreciate if you would tell me what to use and all..cuz im running out of options

one more thing id like to add before anyone replies is that...if my dvd player only reads dvd-r..then does that mean that it will read VOB, AVI, and mpeg or what...someone reply...i must know

NeroVision Express 2 should do what you want
Download the Nero 6 Ultra Edition Trial Version.
http://www.nero.com/us/neroue-prog.php

You probably just need package 1 and 2 for what you are doing.

The trial version only works for the month it is downloaded so the current will only work until the end of the month. You will have to download again next month if you want to continue using the trial version. Buy the software when you get sick of downloading it each month.
