OK I downloaded a few episodes of a TV show off of MIRC and I also recently purchased a DVD burner. I tried to burn the episodes to dvd using NERO, but Nero, although able to play the files with it's built in Showtime program, couldn't recognize the file( or some such error ) and the VCD burning portion of Nero was closed due the the error. I then read a guide on converting the file from AVI to MPEG. So I downloaded TMPGEnc and tried to convert the show files(which were .avi's) to MPEG or SVCD. TMPGEnc did the same thing, said it cannot open the file or it is 'unsupported'. Not sure what kind of file it is. I downloaded it as it is, an avi, wasnt even a .tar or .zip that I had to unpack. Pure avi. So, my final question is, how do I get this onto a DVD/CD so I can watch it on my DVD player? thanks

ok

You should be able to load this File into TMPGEnc to encode it if you first run TMPGEnc and then go to "options" to Enviromental Settings" to "VFAPI Plugins" and raise the Priority of the "Direct show File Reader" to "2", Now the File should Load properly....Cheers

no, unfortunately that didnt change anything, the program errored out and only gave me an option of pressing 'cancel' because it generated errors. What a hassle...

addition: though, it did actually attempt to open it, as in, the program resized its window and looked as if it was trying to open the file, then the error popped up. Usually it just says "cannot open or unsupported"

Hey s37d,

I too had downloaded a few episodes off the MIRC. The quality of the episodes where in XVID. Perfect DVD quality. So I searched around for 2 months and found the perfect software to convert to DVD's. I mean you can convert anything mpeg,AVI,mov files, anything!!! Its called Sonic My DVD Deluxe. Create DVDs with Dolby Digital or PCM audio.
Create VCDs.
Capture video from DV sources such as DV camcorders. You cannot record from analog capture cards (S-video, composite video, TV broadcasts, etc.).
Import MPEG-2 video into your projects.
Import TV shows from Windows Media Center (when MyDVD is installed on a Media Center PC).
Edit movies (create scenes, apply transitions and effects, etc.).
Edit OpenDVD discs.
Heres a tutorial, just to give u an idea of what it can do...D:\Program Files\Sonic\MyDVD\Tutorial\English\index.htm
