I am a super newbie who tried to burn a movie using Shrink with no success after reading hundreds of posts and all the newbie tips. Actually the program worked and everything seemed to be ok but the movie would not play. I think, at least, one of my issues is DMA. Please forgive any misuse of language, etc. I am very new to all the lingo. I am able to go to the Primary Ide Channel and change the Transfer mode to DMA on Device 1. However, the Current Transfer Mode still says PIO mode. How do I change this. I am totally frustrated and would appreciate any help.

Uninstall the ide channel that is giving you problems, reboot to re-install.

Thanks so much for responding. Are there any faqs or directions out there on how to uninstall and then re-install? I really don't understand any of this but I am very good at following instructions, most of the time.

HI there,
In the device manager, under the listing of IDE controllers, click the IDE controller which your drive(s) are connected to (usually this is the SECONDARY IDE controller, but you said it was primary in your case). Click on it, then right click "uninstall". Power down your system and restart. Assuming you enabled DMA previously, your drive should now be running in DMA mode.

Right click your primary ide channel -> choose uninstall -> reboot to re-install.
