Google has updated their Sheets spreadsheet application, making it much more powerful including the ability to work offline, aiming directly at the heart of the market leader, Microsoft Excel. The new applications supports larger spreadsheets with up to "millions of cells" and says that "scrolling, loading and calculation are all snappier, even in more complex spreadsheets." Can it interface directly with leading business management and financial systems and applications? Can it directly connect to HR management and Student Management systems and their databases?

Unless they made it substantially more powerful and compatible they better work on their aim. GoogleDocs is great for the lightweight user or organization but still no patch for Office Professional.

I am just glad they are working on it. I will continue to use office for now but I like more options.

I agree with you, but most users are in fact lighweight, and there is no point in paying for an office suite for the average user anymore. So, if Microsoft doesn't want to lose zillions of users, they should bring back the ad-supported version of Office (AKA Office Starter) right now
