I've searched the forms but haven't found an anwser About burning an IMG file. I am trying to burn it so i can watch it on a stand alown dvd player. So far I have used magicISO to extract the file and i end up with a AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS the audio is empty and the video has the VOB, IFO and BUP files. Then I burn it with Nero like I would A normal DVD. It will play on my computor but not on the stand alone player I get a playback prohibited by area limitation. I Would be greatful for any help anyone can give me.

Thanks

Does "area limitation" have anything to do with region encoding? Did you burn a region 2 DVD and are now trying to play it in a region 1 player?

Also are you sure the player supports the media you burned with, e.g. DVD-R vs. DVD+R? (I don't think you'd get the "area limitation" message though -- more like "no disc" or something.)

Karen H.--Dell Optiplex GX240, P4 1.50ghz, 256mb RAM (yeah, I need more), Windows XP Pro w/SP1, 80gb c: drive (replaced the 20gb c: that crashed), 126gb i: drive, 124gb j: drive, 500gb external hard drive partitioned into k: and l: drives, Sony DDU1621/C1 DVD-ROM to rip/encode, Sony DRX-530UL to burn, new Sony DRX-840U to burn DL discs ... need a new computer to go with it!!

I'm not sure what region the file is but the Dvd player was bought in Canada I would assume the are the same But i can't be sure what region the file is. The dvd player does support the media I'm using.

I'm using Memorex DVD+R 4.7gb 120min 4x
I think they are the lower end ones.

OK, you have a region 1 player if you got it in Canada. You should be able to get the region setting of the DVD just by looking at it ... assuming you have it? If it's a downloaded set of files it may very well not be region 1.

RE: your media, some Memorex are fine and some aren't. Memorex slaps its name on media that are manufactured by lots of different companies, some of which are OK but many of which are not. Still, I'm not sure you'd get an error message about "area limitation" because of poor media (although I could be wrong).
