Not that I've ever used it, but MeeGo had a pretty decent reputation, from what I've read, so hopefully they can build on that with Sailfish. I'll wish all the best to ANY new player on the field; anything that keeps all of the other players light on their feet is a damn good thing, imo.

Yes, but I don't think that this one will sell very well, being exactly at the same price tag of the 32 GB Nexus 5.

Moving away from Symbian to MeeGo was a proven huge mistake for Nokia. I'd like to be wrong, but I don't think there's room for any else players in this game right now. Even in the lowest end market, you can find Android-based phones at ridiculously low prices.

Nokia's mistake was precisely not moving from Symbian to MeeGo - they abandoned and declared it dead months before the one and only MeeGo device was released. MeeGo, combining the ability to maintain and craft their own ecosystem with Android compatibility would have been an infinitely better choice than the Windows strategy that, predictably, ended up killing Nokia. Of course, endless Nokia infighting had caused huge delays on the MeeGo project, and that's probably the ultimate reason for the company's downfall.

Anyway, I wish Jolla all the best. Mind you they're not aiming to be a mass product and do not need that many sales to be profitable. So far their goal of being a niche product for a certain relatively limited group seems to be working for them. Only future will tell how they do in the long run.

I still believe that Nokia should have focused on Symbian instead of moving to another OS in an effort to have an entire hardware & software ecosystem of their own like the iPhone. Remember, Symbian was once the most used mobile OS, supported by many other manufacturers until they decided to step out, precisely at the moment which it was beginning to look much more than just decent.
