marky51, Welcome to A/D -

You want your setting to be DMA not PIO. If you have too many errors your PC will change from the normal DMA to PIO.

Go to your Device Manager and uninstall your burner, then reboot - that should re-set your drive to DMA -

cheers -

Are you looking at the Master Slave config for device0? If you are and there is only say the Hard Disk on that cable then that is fine. It will show one device - Master - as there is no Slave it will be grayed out or similar - depends on the OS.

The other channel that has the Burner should be similar.

If you have more than one device on each cable then all four entries - IDE0 Master and Slave. IDE1 Master and Slave will have some settings. If not uninstall the the IDE/ATAPI driver and let Windows re-detect it.

Always keep your motherboard chipset driver upto date as well. And make sure it is set in the BIOS.

Modern ATAPI devices should be UDMA2 - so yes if it isn't there it will effect the transfer of that device.

I don't know what I am doing.

On most PC's you press the Delete key on the keyboard when the PC is booting. Sometimes it is F1. It will tell you when on the opening screen when it doing the Memory count and detecting Hard Disks etc.

If you have one of those Motherboards that displays a picture during this press the TAB key - the slightly elongated key to the left of Q above caps-lock that should remove the picture.

It's usually buried within Integrated Peripherals - look for IDE controllers and make sure they are set to AUTO.

If you change anything and aren't sure about it just Exit Without Saving.

I don't know what I am doing.
