I converted an avi file to mv2 and mp2 files using TMPGEnc as described here:

I then used IfoEdit to convert these files to vob, ifo and bup files as described here:

I then came to burn the movie into a DVD-R as described here:

I get the picture, but no sound when I try and play the disc on my DVD player. I've been through all the audio settings on my DVD player, but no joy.

What am I doing wrong? Is it really correct (as described in the last guide above) to copy all the files created by IfoEdit to the video_ts folder?

Surely the audio_ts folder must be for something!?

I have a simpler way.

Just use the TMPGEnc wizard and with any of the DVD formats select CBR or VBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio [MP2].
This will give you a single .mpg file that contains both audio and video. You can play this file in your software DVD Player and make sure both the audio and video play correctly.

Then just use that file in TMPGEnc DVD Author.

It will even burn the disc after you author or you can use the authored files in Nero.

When you did it the way the guide says, did you try playing the VIDEO_TS folder with your software DVD player. You probably didn't have audio at that point and so the burned disc will not have audio.

Not really. AUDIO_TS is just an empty folder that is needed for DVD player compatibility. All audio and video is in the VIDEO_TS folder.

I will try your kind replies, but I think I've worked out what the problem is.

When I was using the standard TMPGEnc I had audio problems too, the fix being to increase the priority of the DirectShow plugin to 2.

I've since upgraded to the plus version and now re-applied this fix!! woops...

I'll try TMPGEnc DVD Author too as that sounds much simpler!
