@koolxxx: While I'm no great fan of consoles in general, and more specifically the XBone, you're appparently ignorant of certain countervailing points:
- Most games on both consoles are cross-platform. Insult the games on one, and you're largely doing the same for the other; they're almost exactly the same. Hell, even the consoles' hardware is hardly distinguishable between them, besides the RAM.
- Just because a competitor is doing better at the moment, is no reason you can't improve your own performance. No one knows what the future will bring, and Ed Fries' suggestions make a lot of sense, especially his comparisons of VR to the 3D market.
- The XBone still sells just fine. Yes, the PS4 currently outsells it, but it is NOT even close to dead.
- Both the PS4 and XBone are merely gimped midrange PCs, nothing more. You'd be better off buying a Steambox when they hit the market (which lets you install/change what you like) or an actual PC for the same amount of money or less; either would then let you significantly improve your system in the future, as well.
- No one likes a fanboi. Make a REAL argument or be dismissed as a raving teenager.

Are you really going to try to insist 8 cores gimped to 1.6 GHz is "all that"..? My LAPTOP'S 8 logical cores (3.6 GHz i7 with 4 Hyperthreaded cores) run at exactly that clock rate! Furthermore, the $500 barebones from Newegg lets you put in better hardware whenever you like or can afford to do so. Have fun trying to swap in a new CPU on that PS4, bub.
- As I mentioned already, I don't particularly like consoles at all, I don't own one, and I like the XBone least, your frantic insults aside. I just don't particularly like fanbois raging about unimportant fluff.

Point of fact, neither company makes much of a profit, if any, directly off of the consoles themselves; profit comes from software sales (quite easily verified via Google). This has been true for a LONG time in the console market, by the by: the consoles are loss-leaders to drive content sales.

I'm hoping the PS4 does better than the XBone, simply because I dislike M$, and more specifically how they handled the system's launch, so I'm pretty biased. That said, I think the fact that - so far at least - the PS4 better handles 1080p much better out of the gate (although that gap is shrinking rapidly, apparently) has been a serious blow to the XBone's fortunes.

What I read online is that they're almost exactly comparable in raw power, but the XBone is significantly more difficult to program for than the PS4, due to its "multimedia hub" design, rather than the PS4's directly game-centric design. Amusingly enough, this is pretty much a direct reversal of the last generation of consoles; the "Cell" CPU in the PS3 was apparently a real bear to properly use, but a real beast when you did so.
