Maybe people are tired of the same looking designs of phones, light cheapy plastic feel and unneeded gimmicks that hardly ever get used.

Yeah, those "gimmicks" like SD card capability, drop and drag file accessibility, USB and HDMI support, TV screen mirroring, etc., are SO tiresome. I'd SO much rather have to crap around with iTunes.
