I don't understand how we can have 128 and 512 GB flash drives, and all kinds of high capacity SSDs, but in 2014, they can't cram another chip somewhere in these wispy devices to bump the capacity to at least 128 or 256 GB.

It could even be a tiered storage solution, where the OS and frequently accessed programs/apps reside on faster storage or RAM, and photos, music etc, are on slower storage. Just a thought.

REPLY: RAM is not 'storage", in the normal sense. RAM is volatile. With loss of power, and every time you shutdown or restart the computer, any data on the computer's RAM is dumped.
RAM is indeed much, much 'faster', however it is transient.
